Molding Technician - Level 1 
Specific Requirements/Duties:

  • The Molding Technician shall insure that after a set-up, all parts meet the requirements of all paper work.
  • Have meeting with the outgoing molding tech for review and job status. The two shall discuss the problems and issues that occurred during the prior shift.
  • When the job that has been started has stabilized, the Molding Technician shall perform the start-up approval per the Start-Up Procedure.
  • The Molding Technician is responsible for using red totes to prevent non-conforming material from being mixed with acceptable product during start-ups.
  • The Molding Technician shall line clear every time an adjustment is made and hand in a new start-up to the Manufacturing Quality Technician on the shift.
  • The Molding Technician shall at the beginning of the shift, visit each of the machines, clean, grease molds and also insure the area is neat, organized, and free of past run parts.
  • The Molding Technician shall set up all diverter chutes with the accuracy to detect non-conforming product.
  • The Molding Technician shall monitor all tools and machines for problems that may occur on their shift and fill out all necessary paper work, per our procedures.

Other skills required:

  • 5 plus years hands on experience in close tolerance injection molding in the automotive and or medical industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO2000/QS9000 requirements.
  • Able to perform set-up and start-up of molding processes to engineering specifications in a timely manner.
  • Able to recognize and correct quality problems by performing complex
  • troubleshooting of molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Working knowledge of engineering grade resins and their processing
  • parameters.
  • Responsible for ensuring optimum utilization of capacity.
  • Responsible for cleaning and lubrication of molding dies as needed.
  • Able to maintain a clean and safe work environment including lock out tag out of affected equipment.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a lean
  • manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work alternate shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Willing to guide and support efforts of machine operators as needed.
